The Classics I Never Read

So ever since my cousin started her own YA Lit blog I've been thinking about all those books that most people read at some point during their high school career that I somehow managed to avoid. Not necessarily on purpose, mind you, though for some (Crime & Punishment??) that was the case.

I'm sure you know the ones I'm talking about- Catcher in the Rye, Lord of the Flies, 1984, etc etc. Well, I decided I would finally sit down and read [some of] them. My first stop to look for these titles was Time's Top 100 Novels of All Time list, followed by Modern Library's list. Then I picked out about 30 books that I want to read, either for the first time or again, and that's going to be my new project. And maybe I will write about them here sometimes, though this wont turn into a book blog. Now maybe I'll have something interesting to say, instead of "work is work and life is the same as usual..." when I come to write a post.

Which book should I start with??

Yay! You have no idea how happy I am to have in part inspired you to read more. I love love love A Separate Peace and although I hated it in high school, I really enjoyed Great Expectations when I read it again this last semester for my independent study. For some children's classics (because how can I resist), in case you want a bit of a break, Alice in Wonderland and Peter Pan are pretty obvious, but I also love Call of the Wild by Jack London.

I'm in the same boat, except I have no desire to read them!
