Black Friday & Hanukkah

So, as you know, I had to work at JoAnn's on Black Friday, and was a little nervous about how insane it was going to be.

Holy Crap it was insane. Let's just say that in the first hour (6am-7am) we did more sales than the grocery store did that whole day. There was about an hour and a half wait to have fabric cut.

When I got there at 7:00, I was handed an egg timer and told that my job the whole day was to keep track of the time and send people on their breaks, with the timer. I was their replacement while they were gone. So for about 8.5 hours, my job changed about every 15-30 minutes. It was actually really fun! It was so busy that time flew by; and the customers were all generally happy, too! I think it was because of Greg, who works at the cut counter- he was telling funny jokes and asking trivia questions for candy over the intercom while people waited for an hour to get their fabric cut. It kept things light and happy. There's only one grumpy customer I can remember...

Yesterday was the first day of Hanukkah, so I went to the Dexter's house with Symantha to eat a delicious Hanukkah dinner. We had brisket, latkes with applesauce, green beans, and donuts for dessert. We also played the dreidel game with chocolates as the prize. It was fun.

Hope you all had/are having a Happy Hanukkah too! :)

Oh my goodness. I can imagine how crazy it might've been - it's crazy when there's just a good sale! It sounds fun to change jobs all the time, though! That seems like it would make the day pass super quickly :)

I am so glad for cheerful people during stressful situations. During those times they always seem to add a little perspective! As for dreidels I was so tempted to get Henri some, but I decided they were too little (or maybe he was too little...) Happy Hanukkah!

Glad the day went fast and wasn't a nightmare. Only Black Friday I've ever worked was at Party City, which means we had ZERO business since we didn't have any special sales. My hubby, on the other hand, used to work at the mall, so a few years ago we had to drive back from CA to UT that morning so he could be at work by 6 p.m. for closing. And the mall was still busy!
